Riven Demo is out

Riven is now available for a sneak-peek before its official launch on June 25, thanks to a free demo released as part of the Steam Next Fest. The narrative-driven, puzzle-adventure game is developed by Cyan Worlds and is a modern remake of the 1997 hit Riven: The Sequel to Myst. Riven pays homage to the classic narrative-driven puzzle games of the 90s and promises to take players on a journey of discovery as they explore Riven's decaying age. The game is designed to make players feel like archaeologists, slowly unraveling mysteries by exploring Riven's five enigmatic islands, deciphering foreign languages, and immersing themselves in the game's intricate lore.

Cyan Worlds, the developer of Riven, was founded by brothers Rand and Robyn Miller in 1987. They aimed to create a new kind of experience that felt more like a place than a game, leading to the creation of Myst. Myst was about finding yourself lost in a world, exploring it to gain understanding, and ultimately becoming part of the story. The public response was phenomenal, with Myst and its sequel Riven selling over 15 million copies worldwide. Myst also held the record of being the best-selling video game of the 20th century until 2003.
